Happy Constitution Week! To celebrate we created a giant message on our field, worked together to make an American flag, shared the Preamble, and made America-themed art in Art class.

This week in STEM class our students learned about gravity and force and launched rockets with Mrs. Beckstead!
Fifth grade went to the park on a field trip for their collaborative "Boot Camp," where they had a great time learning to work as a team to tackle challenging tasks.
Congratulations to this year's 5th Grade Keyboarding Champions! Nathan Tingen was the winner of $10 Cash & the GOLDEN keyboard! He is the champion of our school and took 11th place overall in the District for all 5th graders. Zachary England took 2nd place in our school typing over 50 words per minute. Kaitlyn Hurst was 3rd place with just under 50 words per minute.

Students at Spring Lake Elementary came together to recreate the iconic 9/11 sky mosaic. Each student colored their own shade of blue to represent the sky in a collective gesture of remembrance and hope.

The students in Mrs. Hall's second grade enjoyed their fairy tale and tall tale activities today. Thank you to everyone who helped their child dress up. We enjoyed sharing colossal pancakes and tasting different varieties of apples! We learned that 8 out of 18 students preferred Honeycrisp as their favorite kind of apple.
Thank you SO MUCH to the United Way for giving our playground a refresh! They spent the morning painting a new map and games on our blacktop and the kids have been so excited!
This year at Spring Lake we're working hard on our goal of perfect attendance. Last week first grade had the highest attendance and won a popsicle party, and Mrs. Taylor's class had the highest in first grade and won a candy toss! We love seeing all of our Hawks in class, thank you parents for all you do to get them to school and on time!
Ms. Johnson's class and Mrs. McFarland's classes also won their marble parties! Way to go Kindergarten!
We held a book battle for the first couple of weeks of school. After reading over 700 books, the boys won by a small margin! Way to read Hawks!

Mrs. McGee's third grade had a great time building teamwork and saving Fred! (A gummy worm who's boat capsized and needed to reach his life preserver)
More back-to-school fun! Mrs. Lindsey's class found the gingerbread man; the third grade enjoyed a slice of summer, celebrating with watermelon and writing; and Mrs. Hermansen's class showed off their talents.
Welcome back to school Hawks! We had a great first day of school and we're looking forward to a great rest of the week!!
